Compassion Pregnancy Centers of Northeast Indiana - cpcni.org
  Trudy McNabb

The couple who led me to Christ in the late 1970's emphasized the importance of the pro-life movement, and the scriptures confirmed to me the great value we all have because we are made by God in His image and we are all meant to bring glory to Him from conception. I supported the pro-life cause in prayer and financially for many years prior to volunteering my time a few years ago.It is a rich blessing to serve alongside other committed brothers and sisters in Christ- a fellowship I'm sorry I delayed in starting and to which I would encourage you if you sense the Holy Spirit's leading.

My tasks are to help keep the LaGrange Center clean, and to maintain the Resource Room, where clients receive used baby items, as well as the Baby Shower Store, where they spend the merits they earn attending classes with the Center's consultants. It has been a pleasure to meet these young men and women, and to help them where needed.

We welcome the help of anyone who shares our concern for life, and besides donations of time, we are always happy to receive gifts of money and all types of baby products, from cribs and car seats to diapers, wipes and toiletries, which seem to fly off our shelves!

I've wanted to do something like this to help people for a long time but kept it on a back burner until about 5 years ago when my preacher preached a sermon on volunteering and suggested some places that needed volunteers, including the Compassion Pregnancy Center. God reminded me what he had laid on my heart previously and I knew I needed to check it out. Five years later the Center has been through many changes and I still love what I do. I enjoy meeting the many diverse people from all kinds of backgrounds that walk through the door, each with her (or his, if they bring their partners) own story. I enjoy getting to know, building relationships and friendships with these girls.

Working at the Center and with the people there has also helped me grow spiritually. When working with the girls I am reminded that this is God's ministry and the first reason we are here is for the girls. Isaiah 6:1 has been made real and alive to me. It says, "The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has annointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners."
